Wildlife is an important component of agricultural ecosystems. Alpha
Wildlife is a leading agency in the management of rodent populations in
agricultural fields. It has developed the first effective and environmentally
sound control program for northern pocket gophers. Alpha Wildlife
has also invested time and effort to better understand the relationship
existing between long-tailed weasels and northern pocket gophers.
On the basis of new findings on long-tailed weasel movements and food habits,
Alpha Wildlife is developing a multi-faceted program to manage populations
of fossorial rodents in western Canada.
